It’s finally up on mysoju (which has English subtitles for those who don’t understand Cantonese)! For those who don’t know what this series is about, here’s a link to lovely old wiki ^^. Even though I’m only up to the seventh episode, I highly recommend this particular TVB series. Because from what I’ve seen so far, it’s got a really interesting storyline, and well, Wayne Lai + Sonija Kwok is a nice refreshing couple, no? xD It’s not that I hate the other ‘couples’, but they seem to be too overly promoted.
I’m not exactly a big fan of Shirley, but I’m not letting that stop me from enjoying a good TVB series. Actually, this shows just how much I enjoy this series good of a series ‘Pages of Treasure’ is ♥♥. It’s definitely recommended to those who like warm family plots, although it’s not without complications between family members. One thing I really like is the deep relationship 方心明 (Wayne Lai) has with his younger brother Alex, 方心正 (Eric Suen). I don’t know if their good relationship is going to maintain throughout the series, but even if problems and arguments arise, they’ll be solved quickly (hopefully) since they’re so close to each other.
I’m really enjoying the Wayne/Sonija chemistry as well. Not that much has happened seven episodes into the show, but it’s enough to keep me anticipating ^^;; Sonija has really begun to grow on me since acting in D.I.E (another series which I also recommend; Roger Kwok + Sonija is love ♥. I must write up a post about that series too). I also like Wayne’s acting so that’s enough of a reason to keep watching this series. Plus, Sharon Chan is casted as well, an actress I think who isn’t gaining enough recognition. What she needs is a breakthrough role, like Tavia had with ‘Moonlight Resonance’. Her character in ‘Pages of Treasure’ though is a bit so-so to me. And of all the English names out there, she had to be named Pansy (no offense to the ‘Pansy’s’ out there ^^”). It’s just that the writer of all these series have the uncanny ability to give strange uncommon names to the characters. And I don’t like how she manipulates others to do what she wants them to do, although I guess that’s what real estate agents should be able to do.
I’d say that my rating so far for this series is an 8/10. It hasn’t got a complicated plot with heaps of characters that will keep your head spinning throughout the show; it’s basically got two main characters and the rest of the family as supporting actors/actresses. It’s fit for a family to sit together and watch; a light series which will keep your attention from beginning to end.
